Since the last big update to version 1.0 of NetworkManager my connections would die as soon as an IPv6 address was being solicited. For some strange reason this was fixed when I told the NetworkManager to ignore the network interface of virtual box.

Just add the following line to your /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf file and restart:

unmanaged-devices=interface-name:vboxnet0
